This is the only item that can crush rocks. Every time you crush a rock, you reduce the MAGIC by 1, but it's still useful. There are so many places where rocks are in the way that you can't get through. Well, not all the rocks can be crushed.
岩をくだくことができる、唯一のアイテムがこれ。1回くだくごとにMAGICも1減ってしまうけど、やっぱこれが便利。だって岩がジャマして通れないような場所ヤタラメタラあんだもんね。まぁすべての岩がくずせるわけではないけど。

You can use this to destroy rocks that block your path. However, there are some rocks that can be destroyed and some that cannot, and in addition, each swing will require MAGIC.
これを使うと行く手を邪魔する岩を壊すことができる。ただし、壊せる岩と壊せない岩があり、おまけに一振りごとにMAGICを消費してしまう。

Note

The rocks in the area where Rockgaea appears are ineffective against Mattock, Gloves and Rod.
In the MSX2, FC, and NES version, they look the same as moveable rocks, but are treated as different blocks.
In the MSX1 version, it looks different from the moveable rock and is treated as a different blocks.
ロックガイアの出現するエリアにある岩にはマトック・グローブ・ロッドが無効。
MSX2, FC, NES版では見た目は動かせる岩と同じだが別の地形扱い。
MSX1版では見た目から動かせる岩と異なり、別の地形扱い。
